Because I’d read and loved all of Mark Lawrence’s other books, but it also had an excellent cover and book description.

Because you can’t read his first 6 novels without wanting more of those worlds trapped inside Mark Lawrence’s head.

Red Sister was the first book I’d ever read of Mark’s. I found it at the 7-day section of the library. I usually get 1 book from there (new, incoming books, can only check them out for 7 days) every 2 weeks. You know, take a chance on a new author, find a hidden gem or two. Well needless to say, I fell into the book and came up two days later, when I finished it, completely hooked and immersed in a whole new world.
A beautiful piece of fiction, sir! I enjoyed every word! Cannot wait for the next!

Enjoyed the other 2 series. Jorge was badass, if not a little unhinged. Jalan was hilarious and honest to his nature and since I loved Marks writing I wanted to see how he handled a female protagonist. 😉

I gave Red Sister a try because I’d read the two Broken Empire trilogies and loved them. Red Sister did NOT disappoint! I thought it Mark’s best writing, yet. I never win anything, so I have no real expectation that I’ll win this ARC; I just wanted to say how much I’m looking forward to reading Grey Sister when it’s available.

Mark has a very poetic, forward moving, fast paced, writing style. Most of his sentences make for good quotes. He’s one of the few writers I sacrifice sleep for. It was a given that I’d read Red Sister.

After finishing Robin Hobb’s Assassins Fate…I needed something really extraordinary to follow because her book was so emotionally devastating. Red Sister was the only book (out of several I tried starting) that gripped me from the getgo and would not let me put it down. It was the perfect book at the perfect time. Now I am a loyal fan. Reading the Red Queen’s War books while I wait for Grey Sister.

I picked up Red Sister cus I loved his other books. I found Mark by googling dark epic fantasy and his broken empire showed up. It scratched that itch I developed after reading ASOIF for dark fantasy, and I continued to read every other book he has published.

I picked up Red Sister as I initially thought it was another book set in the Broken Empire universe. It wasn’t, and for a little while I was disappointed. When I finally got over my disappointment, I finished the book over the course of a single day, because it was just as good as Mark’s other books, despite not being set in the same world

It was just perfect timing… I’d only recently discovered and devoured (metaphorically!) the Thorns and Red Queen trilogies when Red Sister was released. Mark is now one of the few authors whose work I will instinctively buy as soon as it is released.

I hadn’t read any Mark Lawrence books. I had just finished Sufficiently Advanced Magic and prior to that read the Ryria Revelations and related books. This was the first book, I didn’t read a summary or anything. I had no information about it, but I loved the new cover. I decided to buy it that instant. I am glad I did. It was refreshing to have such a wild stab in the dark pay off.

The first reason might be that it was the last Mark Lawrence book that hadn’t its rightful place on my shelves yet. It could have had a unicorn and a snailfor a cover and I probably still would have bought it. Maybe not immediately though, because books are sort of expensive.
Thankfully, it was no snail and unicorn, but a beautiful cover that had a pretty different atmosphere from the previous artworks. And a girl. More than that, a girl that wasn’t all curves and bare skin. It’s not exactly rare, but not exactly common either, and definitely nice.
I was just too curious to see what world I could discover in the pages after the Broken Empire’s one. Something fresh and new! So I ended up sacrificing what I knew would be hours of sleep late at night and brought it home with all the others. No regrets, it was just that good !

I’ve been a fan of Mark’s since Prince of thorns. I was hooked and have read all is books since. Red sister was a new series in a world separate from the broken empire world. Obviously I had pick it up and see what Mark had in store next. I was not disapointed and I’d love to get choosen for the arc of Grey Sister.

In all honesty, I haven’t. Purchasing new books hasn’t been a part of my budget in years since I lost my job. Instead, I comment on ‘win a book posts’ and hope that I get pitied and sent books for free. Oh, and that other commenters will pity me and cover the author’s expense of shipping a book to me in New Zealand.

Why? Because it was written by Mark. And I kept reading because it is the most realistic portrayal of a female character written by a man that I have ever read.

After the Broken Empire and Red Queen’s War series, I blindly pick up any Mark Lawrence book I see. I’ve come to trust that what he releases is written with the care, passion, and vivid imagery I know and love. The first installment of Nona’s story is one that really stuck with me. I came across a list when searching for new books. The whole concept of a very young girl trained in the art of killing by some kind of nuns, really got me curious.
I Love Red Sister, I’m intrigued by the world created and curious about the development of that world and the characters in the rest of the series.
